Hearing Aids Types – Behind The Ear

Hearing Aids Types usually will involve the most traditional hearing aid – BTE. BTE is also known as Behind the ear hearing aid. There are also other hearing aids types like the completely in ear and invisible in ear. BTE consist of 3 main parts namely; the rear body, the earmold and the cord. The body will be in plastic material and it will contain the most of the electronics. One of the important electronics is the amplifier for the hearing. The cord will link the earmold to the body. Usually the cord will be thin and not so visible. The earmold will have the receiver inside. The earmold is usually customised to ensure the best fitting for each individual different ear canal shape.BTE Hearing Aids

The disadvantage of a BTE is that the body will be quite sizeable and hidden behind the ear. However, the body will be visible from the side or rear direction. As the size is big, the weight is much heavier than its other hearing aids types.

There are many advantages about BTE hearing aids. Due to the bigger body, it means more electronics can be squeezed into it. This means more functions can be packed into the hearing device too. If you want a lot of features in a hearing aid, this BTE will likely have it all. Also that it can use bigger batteries and components to give a more powerful amplified effect. This is good for more severe user as BTE can give you the bigger power and more lasting usage. BTE has more space for design and it will open up chances for affordable designs to be sold in the market. The size of the hearing aid makes it more visible and older people will have less difficulties find their hearing aid. Hearing aids are typically expensive hearing devices. With BTE, there are a lot more affordable hearing aids with lesser features. With less need to customised the hearing aids to fit the ear canal, less cost will be incurred. It is also comfortable to wear has the bulk of the hearing aids is placed outside (behind). Removal will be an ease too for the user.

There are a lot more advantages in terms of the feasibility of this hearing aid type. Beside the appearance, BTE will be the best hearing aids type for anyone to think of. If you are concern with appearance, then there are other options as mentioned earlier – CIC and IIC.
